A personal journey through the streets of Italy

One fantastic activity was making our own pizza using the ingredients plucked from the organic farm found in Ferrara. Not only did the work they do on the farm educate me on the importance of organic farming (and options for my future garden) but being able to notice the flavor difference. I put the organic zucchini on my pizza and I wasn't expecting it to be as delicious as it was but my goodness, what a treat! One of my favorite moments was the five minutes of peace and quiet that I experienced in the hills of Chianti. Here's a snippet of that. The beautiful city of Commachio. A place known as the little Venice and known for their eels! Not only was this a beautiful place and a beautiful day but so interesting learning about the history and the seafood culture. Although I didn't enjoy the pickled eel, I'm glad I got the opportunity to experience it. One doesn't think that a two and a half week could be considered long. I know that I didn't think so before going on this journey. Between limited sleep, trying to conserve money while still ensure enough food, dinners that lasted longer than necessary, no air conditioning leading to open windows leading to bug bites waking me up in the middle of the night (every night) and a lack of water and bathrooms when out on excursions part of me wonders exactly how I survived. The truth is, traveling isn't all rainbows and sunshine and perfect pictures. It's a lot of walking and sweating and frustration (particularly when traveling with people that one doesn't know). It's a lot of getting lost and feeling relieved by knowing where you are again. It's a lot of nonsense and tomfoolery actually.
However, I wouldn't change it for the world. |
